Double standards; have you got them?
You know what we're talking about: You're upset one minute because somebody has made an insensitive, cruel jibe at your expense.
Sure you'll admit your nose is one of the more prominent features on your face, but to say what they said about it is just pure evil; why are some people so brutal, don't they realize you've got feelings?
And the next minute, you're in the zone, joke after joke about your mate's new haircut, everybody is suffering from a serious case of 'sides well and truly split', because of your 'Chris Rock' like gags.
So, what if your girlfriend is close enough to hear? Can't they take a joke, they need to lighten up, that's their problem!
Double-standards, one rule for you, another for others. Now it doesn't take a lifelong nun to point out that this isn't the 'holiest' way to live your life, so no prizes for guessing where this is going: REPENTANCE.
Sometimes a snide joke is the funniest joke but should we be laughing? Let's do a complete 'hypocrite U-turn'. Do we want to be the butt of someone's joke? No?
Well, let's extend that respect to somebody else; let's not tear people down, let's build people up. Jesus had this one well and truly sussed when he said, 'Treat other people as you too would like to be treated'.
Its so easy to say 'treat others the way you want to be treated' but in todays world oh boy is it hard!! We need to pray each day to have a kind heart when it comes to some people and their comments!!
