'It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.' PSALM 118:8
Some curious facts about the Bible that might possibly fry your brain!
Check this out:
- Psalm 117 is the Bible's shortest chapter.
- Psalm 119 is the longest. Psalm 118 is at the centre of the Bible.
-There are 594 chapters before Psalm 118, and 594 chapters after Psalm 118 = 1,188 chapters.
This number can be split 118-8, or Psalm 118:8.
Of course the chapters and verses in the Bible aren't part of original scripture, but isn't it interesting how this little number-exercise worked out?
So what is Psalm 118:8?
Is it just some random bit of information about how women shouldn't be allowed to grow beards?
Let's see: 'It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.' Come on! Psalm 118 basically gives a whole bunch of reasons why God can be trusted, here's a few of them:
1) 'I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me' (v 5)
2) 'The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?' (v 6)
3) 'You pushed me violently, that I might fall, But the LORD helped me. (v 13)
4) 'This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it' (v 24)
5) 'Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever' (v 29).
So, are you going to trust Him today?

Absolutely! Today and every day! So much in my life, especially recent life, has been taken care of by that trust. That trust is never misplaced. I have found that out "on my hide" as they Russians say in referring to personal experience.
